Empty Nest: Life Goes On originally aired Saturday, April 29th 1995.

Although widowed pediatrician Dr. Harry Weston (Richard Mulligan) has lost his wife he is not really alone, he shares his house with his maladjusted and single adult daughter Carol (Dinah Manoff) and his lovable pooch Dreyfuss. If that wasn't more than enough excitement for the good Doctor his neighbors, including philandering, perpetually mooching Charlie (David Leisure), unrestrained, aged Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty) not to mention his friends at the medical clinic, including sassy nurse Laverne (Park Overall) and sharp tongued partner Dr. Maxine Douglas (Marsha Warfield) all conspire to make sure that there is never a dull moment in Harry's life.

This was the final episode of this well loved comedy and The Golden Girls spin off. Over the years this program went through numerous changes in cast members, storylines and overall tone but Empty Nest would remain an interesting part on NBC's Saturday night lineup for seven entertaining seasons. In this final program several of the show's storylines would be concluded. This one hour episode would include the marriages of both Carol and Laverne and a plot line where Dr. Weston considers giving up his medical practice to move to the northeast to teach. Long lost daughter Barbara (Kristy McNichol) would also return for a visit and to join in the festivities.

This was Kristy McNichol's much welcomed return to Empty Nest after leaving the show in 1992 for health reasons. While she has a short and funny cameo that is entertaining, this episode is most noteworthy for being her last onscreen acting role before retiring from show business.
