Extreme Ghostbusters: Dry Spell originally aired Monday, September 29th 1997.

It is seven years after The Real Ghostbusters have disbanded. Over time paranormal activity had eventually dropped off to nothing and all of the original ghostbusters went their separate ways. The only member left of the original team is Egon Spengler (Maurice LaMarche); he still lives at the old firehouse to maintain the equipment and containment unit, and also to further his studies. Spengler also teaches a class in the paranormal at the local college. After all these years of quiet solitude, suddenly strange ghostly activities begin occurring again, a new team of ghostbusters is needed and needed quick. Egon recruits a whole new group of ghostbusters from the best students in his class: Kylie Griffin (Tara Strong), an expert on the occult and the only female member of the team, Eduardo Rivera (Rino Romano), a hip arrogant slacker, Garrett Miller (Jason Marsden), a wheelchair bound athlete and Roland Jackson (Alfonso Ribeiro), a mechanical genius. Along with new/old ghostly friend Slimer (Billy West) and with the help and encouragement of their mentor Egon they comprise a new generation of ghostbusters, The Extreme Ghostbusters.

In this episode the team encounters an entity that has the ability to absorb the life force and water from any living being it touches. Their efforts to capture the creature become considerably more complicated as an obsessed scientist; Francois Russo (Steven Weber), tries to steal the creature from the ghostbusters to further his own agenda.

Kristy McNichol has a small part in this episode; she is the creature's first victim and is simply credited as "Girl in Sub". This is a small part in what is a typical episode of this program. It would also be one of Kristy McNichol's final acting performances.

Buying note: This particular episode was never offered on commercial home video. But there are other sources for this as well as many other Kristy McNichol appearances that you might be looking for.
