Invasion America originally aired beginning June 8th 1998 with the final episode airing July 7th 1998 with a total of 13 episodes.

David Carter (Mikey Kelley) is an angry young man that has never known his father. Unknown to David is that his father Cale Oosha (Lorenzo Lamas) was once the leader of a vast alien empire. Seventeen years before he had come to our world to make preparations for peaceful negotiations with the humans. His uncle The Dragit (Tony Jay) had arrived on earth ten years earlier supposedly to make preparations for peaceful coexistence with the Earthlings but in reality to begin construction of a secret military complex under an abandoned Air Force base, a complex that was to be used as a launching point for an attack against this planet. On his nephew's arrival The Dragit initiated a military overthrow leaving him exiled on Earth. While in hiding Cale made for himself a new life here, he took an earth woman as his mate and for a while they were happy. His happiness would be short lived though as he was forced to leave his wife and infant son to return to his home world in an attempt to regain the power that was stolen from him and stop this war with the humans before it started. Meanwhile back in present time, Military Intelligence Officer Major Philip Stark (Greg Eagles) is investigating the skeletal remains of a strange creature, a monster with definite unearthly origins. His investigation then leads to many more startling facts concerning an impending invasion of our planet with ramifications at the highest levels of government. As the alien invaders prepare for their attack against Earth David's world crumbles, in an instant he goes from being a asocial high school kid to suddenly being caught in the middle of an approaching interplanetary war with the planet Tyrus, the home world of his father and also half of his own heritage too.

This much anticipated sci-fi series coming from Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks productions had the distinction of being the very first prime time animated drama. Produced by Spielberg and simultaneously employing both conventional and computer animation techniques (not to mention an incredibly diverse collection of voice acting talent the likes of Leonard Nimoy, James Sikking, Ronny Cox, Timothy Daly, Robert Urich and Kristy McNichol) this series would have seemed to have the potential to be truly entertaining and innovative. Unfortunately though, as is often the case with new shows that are so heavily promoted it couldn't live up to all the hype. The story had some potential but was somewhat clichéd and borrowed heavily from other science fiction work. And while the animation itself was adequate enough it was neither particularly groundbreaking nor inspiring. If anything this series was an interesting concept that never really seemed to be given the chance to fully develop.

Kristy McNichol played the part of Sergeant Angie Romar, a professional soldier and the "right hand man" of Major Stark. It is a small supporting role but she makes the most of it. Invasion America also has the distinction of being Kristy McNichol's final acting performance, a much too short end to this very talented lady's once promising career.

Buying note: This show has never been available on commercial home video. But there are other sources for this as well as many other Kristy McNichol appearances that you might be looking for.
