Two Moon Junction (1988) is an erotic drama written and directed by Zalman King.

April Delongpre (Sherilyn Fenn) is a young southern debutante born into a life of wealth and privilege. The life of this prim and proper young lady has already been mapped out for her by her family, most notably the family matriarch, April's Grandmother Belle (Louise Fletcher). She is engaged to a handsome man with a prosperous future, a man that her family approves of. Inside her though is a raging desire, a desire that her fiancé cannot fulfill. One night while taking her younger sisters (Milla Jovovich and Nicole Rosselle) to a carnival she has a chance meeting with Perry (Richard Tyson), a handsome carnival worker that has a way with the women. They begin meeting secretly and he becomes the only man that can satisfy the dark desires that are in her. As they continue their rendezvous Belle becomes aware of their affair, she will not allow some carnival hand to destroy her granddaughter's future and is not above calling in a favor from an old friend, Sheriff Earl Hawkins (Burl Ives) to make sure that Perry stays away from her granddaughter. But can April give up this man, the only man that could ever awaken the desires inside her?

Two Moon Junction is another in a long line of erotic dramas by director, writer, producer and frustrated pornographer Zalman King. The movie is okay for what it is but personally I found this rather pointless and boring. If you have liked King's other works (and other similar films) I am sure you will like this one as well. All of the actors are good and work well with the script they have been given but unfortunately there isn't much to work with. This film could also have used some more judicious editing to tighten up this story, at least then it wouldn't have been nearly so tedious to watch. Kristy McNichol has a small part as Patti Jean, another of Perry's girlfriends. Kristy doesn't have much to do here; her talents are completely wasted in this film. Mostly she runs around chewing gum and acting wild, goes topless for a while and then exits the film as quickly as she came. While she does have a few cute moments her character is really unnecessary to the story and seems to have been added just so the filmmakers could put KRISTY MCNICHOL NUDE on the video box. It is ironic that there are so many other remarkable Kristy McNichol performances languishing, awaiting release on DVD while this movie, most likely the worst movie of her entire career and a film that is completely forgettable is readily available.

Buying note: This film is available on VHS tape as well as on a full screen/wide screen DVD.
